Kath was brought up in Surrey and moved to Exeter in 1996 to study education and Art. After working in a primary school as a class teacher raising her own children, Kath started painting full time, including taking her work into schools, running landscape painting workshops with groups of children, realising a passion to see children explore and create without inhibition or fear.
Kath’s work is inspired by the rich coastal landscape of the South west. Having spent many years as a child holidaying in North Cornwall, like many she has now returned with her own family. Kath works from photographs, which she re-works back in her studio in Exeter, capturing that excitement and memory of holidays and the exhilaration of being by the sea. Captivated by the colours of the landscape and the power of the sea, Kath’s work is increasingly taking a more abstract and emotional form.
Kath also exhibits at ‘Create Gallery’, Bedruthan Steps Hotel in Cornwall, Bizzy Be Framing, Exeter as well as the hugely successful Exeter Affordable Art Show in Princesshay. Her work is also available to view by appointment, she has more recently been busy with private commissions.
