I learned printmaking at one of the very traditional print studios in Venice and after returning to Devon, I continued my practice at Double Elephant Print Workshop in Exeter. As Outreach Coordinator, I enjoyed trying to make printmaking less restrictive, using portable presses to take printmaking out into the community – to hospitals, prisons, schools, festivals, galleries and museums.
I’ve undertaken residencies at The Art Room in Oxford, Axminster Heritage Centre, Preston Manor in Brighton and Kensington Palace. My work has been used on stage, television and as book illustrations. I have also exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Show.
These works are all from the East Devon and West Dorset landscape, made at home on a small press. I’m interested in the different possibilities and restrictions of markmaking using reduction linocuts and drypoint processes.
