I am lucky to have a studio in a Sail Loft on Topsham Quay, where I am influenced by the patterns of boats and buoys on the Estuary. This is mirrored in many harbours and waterways I visit around the South West.
I frame my larger works in rustic reclaimed painted frames that remind me of the sea-weathered hulls of the boats outside.
I love the journeys in old maps/navigation charts and use these in all my work- both in my dry point prints and my textured pictures.
My work feel like ‘swatches” or sections of a larger pattern of boats and that is why they are titled “wallpaper boats”.
As well as exhibiting and selling locally, my work is in several galleries on the Scilly Isles. I have taken part in Devon Open Studios, Art Week Exeter and in August 2017 I was featured in “Coast” magazine.
